FAQS

What is Kids Unlimited?

The Kids Unlimited Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to benefit children stricken with cancer. Kids Unlimited became a 501C3 organization in 1994 when caring individuals, of whom several were parents of children with cancer, founded a grassroots organization with the hope to provide children a reprise from cancer and an opportunity to be free of the harsh treatment regiment. Through these efforts, Kids Unlimited joins over 250 families together for consistent family-oriented activities. Events include catfish, bass and trout tournaments; bowling tournaments; outings to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, Astros games, Aeros games, offshore fishing trips and holiday parties. We are the only group of its kind in Houston and the surrounding areas which consistently provides “family” activities for kids with cancer.

Do I have to be there to win?

Absolutely! Prizes will only be awarded to those present at the final awards ceremony. This is one party you won’t want to miss!

Where can I launch?

There is no official launch site for this tournament. Anglers can launch anywhere on the Texas coast. Please do not plan on launching at Harborwalk, though. Their facilities cannot handle launching this many boats.

Do I have to fish from a boat?

Absolutely not! You can wade-fish, fish from the bank, a dock, kayak, jet-ski…whatever it takes!

How much does it cost to register?

The entry fee is $199 per angler if you register BEFORE October1st, 2008.  Entries received on or after October 1st, 2008 will be $225.  This qualifies you for the hourly cash prizes for all three divisions (speckled trout, redfish and flounder). Your entry fee also covers a BBQ dinner at the final awards ceremony, a brand new graphite rod courtesy of American Rodsmiths, a fishing shirt and cap from Fish-N-Hunt, and a goody bag with all kinds of great stuff from our gracious sponsors.

How do I win the prizes?

Anglers may return to the weigh-in site every hour during the day to weigh in one fish for a chance to win one of the hourly cash prizes based on the top single heaviest fish (from each division) during that hour. At the end of the day, the top anglers from each hour and, again, each division) will be entered into a drawing for any one of the awesome Grand Prizes.
